Kelty Cosmic Down 20-Degree Sleeping Bag Review:
Kelty sleeping bags only have 20 degree Fahrenheit thermal ratings which mean that while you can use this for below zero (Celsius) temperature, you are still going to need a sleeping pad. Note that in tests to determine thermal ratings, the subject is deemed to be using a 1-inch pad. Kelty sleeping bags also feature box baffle construction and a top baffle coolar. A baffle is an internal wall of fabric which separates the layers (top and bottom) of fabric in a down comforter, or in this case, a sleeping bag. It adds loft to the sleeping bag and also adds strength. This means that you get a durable, compact and fluffy sleeping bag. The major drawback about this sleeping bag is that it isn't waterproof. It is insulated with duck down. It will give you a very soft and comfortable feel, not to mention that it has excellent body heat retention properties. If you are going on a kayaking or canoeing trip, you might want to look for another sleeping bag. At 6 lbs (short) 9 lbs (regular) and 12 lbs (long), this sleeping bag isn't very lightweight but it gives the best warmth-to-weight ratio.
